National Infertility Awareness Week – 2013 Initiatives

What’s Happening during NIAW…



  • Preparing for Infertility Awareness Week and Advocacy Day – Find Creative ways of raising awareness for infertility awareness in your community. For example:
    • Join Fran Meadows by contacting your local library and have them feature books relating to infertility.  Share on twitter @FranMeadows or #NIAW
    • Create a video and join the Infertility Video Movement.
  • RESOLVE’s Join the Movement – There is a lot of information on Resolve’s website whether you are a patient or a professional. You can find events, approaches to  getting involved, avenues to gain and share information as well as other ways to support NIAW!   Check their twitter or facebook feed for mobile friendly updates.
    • Join the movement to:
      • Bring infertility support groups to every community.
      • Increase and protect access to all family building options.
      • Help change the conversation about infertility.
  • From Infertility to Pregnancy Virtual Conference – Attend from any computer or phone for free April 21st – May 4th.  The two week wait is one of the hardest times while trying for a baby.  So, it was only appropriate to immerse ourselves in two whole weeks of love, support and an abundance of life changing information in hopes that in the future you will go from Infertility to Pregnancy! Receive free access to the interviews for the first 48 hours, as well as FREE gifts from all speakers and the opportunity to take part in special offers.
    • Learn more about your options.
      • How to increase your chances of pregnancy through natural conception and treatment cycles

  • The Fertility and Family Building Fair is the concentrated effort to bring a multitude of local resources together for those working to build their families. April 24th at 5:00 PM, IN 
    • Come as you are anytime between 5 &8:30. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.
    • The Fertility and Family Building Fair is for everyone that is currently trying to start their family or add to it, and/or anyone is considering starting a family in the future, be it through natural conception, assisted reproductive technologies, fostering or adoption.  You can never be too educated!
  • Kansas City Infertility Awareness Foundation presents their 3rd annual Kansas City Family Building Conference – April 27th at 9:00 AM
    • Check-in & continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m.
      Conference is from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.mVF & Beyond
    • Topics include: IVF, Embryo Adoption, Evaluation of the Male Partner, Adoption, Faith & Infertility, Recurrent Pregnancy Loss & Mind-Body Therapy Program
  • will host the first annual “LIGHTS OUT for INFERTILITY” – All lights should be turned out except ONE porch light on the EIGHTH night of NIAW for TEN minutes.  1in10 is showing support for the 1 in 8 couples that are struggling with infertility. Sunday, April 28th at 8:00 PM (in your time zone)

      • Share, Retweet, and Repin 1in10’s posts about NIAW
      • Buy a t-shirt
      • Take a picture of yourself wearing the t-shirt under your porch light on the 8th night.  Submit Pictures by 5/1.

This years theme is “Join the Movement,” and you can do just that with the assist of the events listed above!
